JOINVILLE
In 2009 God confirmed his calling us to serve him in the city of Joinville, Brazil. Joinville is situated in the upper northeast corner of the state of Santa Catarina, and is near the Atlantic Ocean. Santa Catarina is located in southern Brazil, merely two states north of Uruguay.
OUR FIELD
Joinville is the largest and most prosperous city in the State of Santa Catarina. On May 1, 1843, the French Prince, François-Ferdinand-Philippe-Louis-Marie d'Orléans, married Portuguese Princess, Francisca-Carolina-Joana-Carlota-Leopoldina, sister of Dom Pedro II. In honor of this union. The patriarch gave the land (the city's location today) as a wedding present to the royal couple. However, they never enjoyed this present; they never even visited the city. After the French Revolution in 1848, many German, Austrian, French and Norwegian immigrants migrated to Brazil, especially to this region of Joinville. The city, first known as Dona Francisca Colony, but soon after that, in 1852, received Joinville's name. Today, Joinville is popularly known as the "City of Flowers," the "City of Bicycles," even "City of the Princes." Joinville is a city with a "European air," born from a diverse European immigrant mixture. (Source: internet - google search.)
