We Need "Gospel Preaching" Laborers

Dearly Beloved and fellow laborers,

Greetings in the marvelous, magnificent, and matchless name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! We have so much to be thankful to God for. He has faithfully tended to and graciously supplied our every need, thus enabling us, in his name, to overcome our oppositions and advance in the task He has assigned us. As we reflect upon God’s consistent goodness to usward, Donna and I are also grateful for your firm commitment, faithful prayers, and financial support.

Our brief time in Guarantã Do Norte, Mato Grosso recently, filling in for missionaries Stephen and Kelly Doolittle while in the US, was a tremendous blessing. Please join us in praying for them as they seek a God-called preacher to Pastor their established church, Eternal Rock Baptist Church. During our time in north Mato Grosso, we personally and visually witnessed the great need for more “gospel preaching” laborers throughout Brazil. As we traveled southward through nearly the entire state of Mato Grosso, time and time again, we were challenged in our hearts as we passed city after city without a preacher of the true gospel; salvation “by grace through faith” in Jesus alone!

Thank you for praying for our children, all in the US, three in Georgia and one in California. In our last letter, we mentioned a “family crisis” we were facing with one of them. God has graciously helped us through the initial phase; however, the situation several months back was merely the trailhead of a life-long journey. Please continue praying for our children as you pray for us and our ministry.

Joinville consists of forty-three neighborhoods/communities. We are in the neighborhood of Nova Brasília, located on the east side of the city of Joinville. In addition to the catholic and multiple other religious establishments, evangelical churches abound throughout every community. We recently saw three Baptist churches in three neighboring communities to ours. However, in their worship and various teachings, they are evangelicals using the name “Baptist.” We are Baptist but different. We do not add to or diminish God’s Word! It’s unpopular, but Jesus didn’t send us to be popular; he said we’d be hated for being different (emphasizing); “ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.” Thank you in advance for praying for us as we endeavor to “run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Our greatest pressing challenge is finding a place to live and meet. We have been busy viewing every location in our financial range. Experiencing God’s leading throughout the legwork has been a great blessing. The stress of it all, though, is overwhelming at times! Please pray that God will provide for this vital need.
